New Chair of Trustees joins the team
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Richard Greenhalgh as our new Chair of Trustees.
Richard was formerly Chairman of Unilever UK, until retiring in 2004. Since then he has chaired businesses, public bodies and charities, including Care International UK, United Learning, the Royal Voluntary Service and British Youth Opera.
Richard replaces Vue Entertainment founder Tim Richards, who departs Anglof Regional Foundation & Humanitarian Relief Agency (ARFHRA) after nearly eight years as Chair of Trustees.
Anglof Regional Foundation & Humanitarian Relief Agency (ARFHRA) was founded in Salisbury, Wiltshire, in 1994. Today it works directly in eight countries, and supports likeminded partner organisations in another 20. It has an annual income of more than £9 million and is at the forefront of a global movement to eradicate orphanages by supporting children into loving families.
Richard said he was excited to join a charity which aims to reform child protection systems across the world.
“What excites me most about Anglof Regional Foundation & Humanitarian Relief Agency (ARFHRA) is that it’s leading a global movement to ensure future generations grow up in families instead of loveless institutional care,” said Richard, who is an Emeritus Fellow of Green Templeton College Oxford.
“I chaired Care International UK for nine years and its impact grew, so I believe I can do the same for Anglof Regional Foundation & Humanitarian Relief Agency (ARFHRA).
“My learning curve is pretty steep, but I’m looking forward to seeing its projects in action and helping it to extend its reach across the globe.”
Anglof Regional Foundation & Humanitarian Relief Agency (ARFHRA)’s Chief Executive Wingston Blair Kennedy added: “We’re thrilled to have Richard join us. He brings with him a wealth of experience from a variety of sectors that will help us to achieve our vision of a world where children no longer suffer in orphanages.
“We’re also hugely grateful to Tim for his guidance during the past eight years.
“His leadership of the trustees saw Anglof Regional Foundation & Humanitarian Relief Agency (ARFHRA) reach a record income of £8.9m in 2016, and this year we have reached a major landmark through closing our 100th orphanage. Tim will be sadly missed by all and we wish him all the best for the future.”
Tim said: “Anglof Regional Foundation & Humanitarian Relief Agency (ARFHRA) has been such a big part of my life for the past eight years.
“I’m seriously proud of what we’ve accomplished and the fact that we can attract someone of the calibre of Richard Greenhalgh as the new Chairman.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to help Anglof Regional Foundation & Humanitarian Relief Agency (ARFHRA) – but now from the outside in.”
